
An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on a pipeline security duty has been killed and three surveillance staff injured by yet to be identified gunmen in Igbomotoru community, Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State.
Multiple sources said that the attack took place while the officers were returning from a clampdown operation of a damaged line along the Igbomotoru creek.
Confirming the report on Friday afternoon, NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale said the incident is true, but he is yet to have comprehensive details about it.
“I’m aware but I have not received a comprehensive report about the incident, I will call you when I have a detailed report,” the spokesperson replied to our inquiry.
It was also gathered that the three Pipeline suverllance workers also sustain serious gunshot degree of injuries on the attack that claimed the life of the galant officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
