A Police Inspector, Michael Timitimi, who is attached to the Bayelsa State Police Command at the weekend slumped and died during the burial rites of his deceased grand mother in Igbedi community in Kolokuma\Opokuma local government area of the State.

The deceased Inspector’s demise however threw the fold of the State security outfits, the State Vigilante Service and Bayelsa Volunteer Force into mounful mood.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that deceased reportedly died over the weekend during the burial rites of his grand mother in Igbedi town. Eye witnesses reported he slumped and died shortly after dancing fitfully at the wake keep in honour of his grand mother.

A visit to the headquarters of the security outfits showed that the workers were shocked and left in tears after the news of the police inspector death of relayed.

The Chairman of Bayelsa State Volunteers, Hon. Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo and the leadership of the agency have paid an unscheduled condolence visit to the family of Inspector Michael Timitimi who was formerly attached to the security outfit.

Also on the team of visitors at the family home of the deceased were the Secretary of the Vigilante Services, Mr Innocent Kalaingo, and Ogbia Coordinator, Mr Isaac Amakuro, who stood in for the Chairman.

The Chairman of Bayelsa State Volunteers, Hon. Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, while​ speaking during the condolences visit, recounted how the deceased had visited him last Thursday to intimate him about the the grand mother’s demise and to invite him for the burial rites.

Hon. Asanakpo was unable to attend the ceremony because of other pressing engagements over the weekend however, expressed great shock and disappointment when informed of the sudden death of the officer yesterday morning.

The Chairman went on memory lane, how he had worked closely with the deceased when he was appointed as Chairman of the agency during the Dickson era now Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

He recalled how the officer would accompany him alongside other officers on midnight raids of red light districts and criminal hideouts in Yenagoa. Indeed, he was full of praises for the gallant departed officer for his bravery, tenacity, commitment and loyalty to a worthy course.

He went further to console the wife and children of the late officer, promising that the agency will be with the family all through the burial arrangements. He prayed that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The elder brother of the deceased Mr. Enetimi Timitimi, thanked the visitors for the visit and promised to keep the chairman posted on further developments as regards the burial of the late officer.
