The Bayelsa APC has received massive decampees from other political parties in the state, especially from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic party (SDP), Action People’s Party (APP), Zenith Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The decanpees consists of candidates and aspirants of the last Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections including their supporters from various political parties in the State.
The over 200 defectors were received by Pastor Reuben Wilson, Chieftain of the APC and founder of Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability (PRIGLA).
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, a Senatorial candidate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the last elections, Hon. Fuludu Ebikpolade Vincent, said they decided to join the APC because the party and its governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, has better programmes and policies for the people than the ruling Peoples Democratic party in the state.
Mr. Fuludu Vincent, noted that the APC gubernatorial candidate has a better track record of performance during his tenure as the governor of Bayelsa State when compared to the current administration of Sen. Douye Diri, with the amount of funds that have acrued from the federation account, hence all Bayelsans who mean well for the state should queue behind Chief Timipre Sylva.
“The present administration in the state lacks ideas on how to govern the state. No wonder Bayelsa is listed as one of the least performing state in terms of development vis a vis the amount of funds the has received.
” Little wonder IPAC in its independent accessment has come out to voice its displeature at the slow pace of development in the state resulting in poverty, business leaving the state in droves and the astronomical fall in the internally generated revenue,” he said.
Chieftain of the APC and founder of the Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability, PRIGLA, Pastor Reuben Wilson, while receiving the decampees, commended them for the right decision.
According to Pastor Reuben, the party’s candidate is tried and trusted as a former Governor and a former Minister where he has shown capacity and competence to deliver development to the people.
He noted that the APC will give them every privilege and rights that they deserve as members, advising them to be steadfast, committed to the success of the party.
“People are realizing everyday that the APC represents a credible alternative to the PDP in Bayelsa state, knowing that the PDP has failed in all ramifications.
“They have failed to bring development to Bayelsa state. They have succeeded to impoverish the people; they have succeeded in enthroning bad governance to the people of Bayelsa state.
“The PDP lacks the capacity to enthrone good governance. That’s why the people of Bayelsa state are defecting day-by-day to the APC,” he said.
Pastor Reuben added that the APC has a more credible candidate in in the person of Chief Timipre Sylva, who has more grassroot support to win the elections come November 11, 2023.
