Veteran actress, Ngozi Nwosu, is appalled by what she decribed as uprofessional romantic movies dominating Nollywood and does not seem to be hiding her feeling.

Nwosu, who was one of the known faces that thrilled many movie lovers and rocked the scene some years back proved that she has not lost her spark as she has found her way back into the movie world having left the scene for quite a while to attend to personal issues.

The veteran actress, who was speaking on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels TV sometime back said watching scenes where actors could not make romantic scenes real and bring out their professionalism always tears into her heart, even as she added that kissing somebody on set of a movie should always be made real.

She insisted that as an actor, one must play his or her role in the best convincing way, adding that some romantic movies dominating the Nollywood space were becoming awful, adding that “It is either you are there or you are not there.”

According to her, “There are some movies you watch these days that kissing and romance are so appalling that you begin to ask yourself, what exactly the actors are doing. You begin to wonder if it is by force. If you are going to do it, do it and if you are not going to do it, tell the director no. The idea of trying to fake a kiss or romance does not make sense to me,” she said.

She shared her experience on the set of a movie where she had to go under the duvet with an actor.

“I was once in a movie where I was under the duvet with someone and the director asked if I was sure I could take the role. I said what’s wrong with that. I told the director that the actor was not my guy and I am not his babe. So, we did our thing and we moved on.”

Recalling her role in Living in Bondage, where she had to kiss Kenneth Okonkwo, Nwosu said the director could not tell her how would have to kiss.

“I noticed the director was troubled because he did not know how go about the scene where Okonkwo and I would kiss. I got wind of the situation and as a professional actress, I kissed Okonkwo and we moved on. If we don’t do it well, there is no point doing it at all.”
