Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, has died.

The actor died at 61 after a prolonged battle with kidney failure.

A social commentator, Morris Monye, via his X handle, on Sunday, said, “Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing.

“He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.

“We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.

“This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country.”

His death comes a few days after he appealed to the public for funds to undergo a kidney transplant in India.

In a viral video, the actor was seen lying on a bed and beside him was his colleague Kingsley Orji, who made an emotional appeal on his behalf.

Muonagor, a native of Idemili in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, was born on August 20, 1962.

He was an actor and producer. In 2016, he was nominated for AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in Comedy.

He starred in many movies including Taboo 1 (1989), Karishika (1998), Igodo (1999), Aki na Ukwa (2002), His Last Action (2008), Sincerity (2009) and Without Goodbye (2009).
