Rivers, Bayelsa To Experience Total Darkness As Angry Youths Shuts Down Power Transmission Station

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company at the weekend said angry youths had shut down a major power facility at the Afam Power Station in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The acting Manager, Corporate Communications, PHEDC, Mrs Chioma Aninwe, said the angry youths, on Friday, forcefully took control of the power station belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

She said the development was the reason for the blackout in the state.

She stressed that attempts to pacify the youth proved abortive and urged the law enforcement agencies to intervene.
