Women advocacy groups with the Slogan END Violence Against Women in Politics (EVAWIP) has commenced a “Door-to-Door” campaign for increased women participation in politics and collection of Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The advocacy Campaign, which was initiated by the DO Foundation in Collaboration with the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, to encourage women to participate in politics by ensuring they get their PVCs to exercise their Franchise in the forth coming election.

The Women advocacy team is made up of Do Foundation, Starrz Safety initiative, Carenepere initiative, Jessica Duke and Mr Oweizide.

The Founder of Do Foundation, Barr Dise Ogbise and Chairperson of the Bayelsa State chapter, Nurse Deghilipulu Ubodiom, who led the team of gender advocates under the Team name END Violence Against Women in Politics (EVAWIP) visited the office of the Director of finance, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB),Mrs Douye Ogiriki, Director and Member of the Secondary School’s Board, Southern ijaw, Elder Bazigha Tanwei Stanley to seek for support in their campaigns.

According to Ogbise, “the team is expected to carry out an advocacy exercise across the 8 local government areas of Bayelsa State by embarking on door to door, community to community and person to person campaign to encourage women to come out in their numbers to participate in the forth coming elections”

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the State chapter of Do Foundation who is the secretary of the EVAWIP team , Nurse Ubodiom stated that EVAWIP team will not relent at encouraging women to be part of Governance.

In their separate responses, the Director of finance, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB),Mrs Douye Ogiriki Director and Member of the Secondary School’s Board, Southern ijaw, Elder Bazigha Tanwei Stanley, commended the initiative noting that it is apt.

According to them, women needs to be given tbe desired platforms in governance so as to enable them contribute their quota to the growth and development of the state and the Nation.
