The revised Petroleum Industry Bill will be transmitted to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in a few days, officials privy to the information at the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources stated on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the bill was currently being scrutinised by the Federal Ministry of Justice, as the FMPR had already concluded its work on the bill.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, had said in mid-July this year that the National Assembly would get the bill in two weeks, but this eventually did not happen.

“You know the Federal Ministry of Justice will have some inputs in a bill like this. It is after that that it will go to Mr President,” an impeccable source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

When told that Sylva stated a month ago that the bill would get to the National Assembly within two weeks, the source said the delay had been at the justice ministry.
