The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the manner in which the former Acting Director General of the Directorate of State Services, Mr. Matthew Seiyefa, was removed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari replaced Seiyefa with Yusuf Bichi last Friday after the former acted for a brief period during which he tried to reposition the DSS.

Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr Cleopas Moses, in a press release, said Seiyefa’s sudden removal was borne out of fear by the ruling cabal as there were reports that members of President Buhari’s kitchen cabinet were not comfortable with a non-Northerner as the DSS boss.

The party chairman also said Seiyefa’s service to the nation was cut short because he is not from any of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria and that it was a continuation of the current Federal Government’s unfair treatment to the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region.

“The party believes if Seiyefa was from any of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria, he would not have been thrown out the way the Buhari administration did, not minding his acclaimed competence on the job.”

He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of President Buhari of being anti-Ijaw in its decisions and execution of policies and projects.

Moses equally called out the APC leaders in the state, notably Chief Timipre Sylva and the Minister of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri, to tell Bayelsans how they felt when an indigene of the state was unceremoniously and inhumanly treated by a government they are a part of.

“We have it on record that Mr. Seiyefa had nobody to run to as this ill-advised plot was hatched by the cabal in their government. When it eventually happened, Lokpobiri and others were reportedly pouring champaign that another good Ijaw man they could not have influenced for their evil, occultic and undemocratic politics had been relieved of his well-deserved job.”

He called on PDP members and indeed the Ijaw nation to identify characters who collude with others against their people and reject them if they fly any other party’s flag in the 2019 elections.

Moses commended party members for demonstrating maturity and understanding in the ongoing process of selecting and electing the party’s flag bearers in the forthcoming elections.

He also gave kudos to Governor Seriake Dickson for his dynamic and focused leadership that has fostered peace in the state.
