The Bayelsa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted a peaceful Federal House of Representatives primaries in the state.

As at the time of this report, three Federal constituencies have concluded their primaries with the Former Ogbia Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ebiyoun Turner emerging the flag bearer of the party for the Ogbia Federal constituency.

He defeated three others including the incubent Federal Representative, Hon. Fred Obua. Turner scored Breaking: Turner emerges PDP candidate for Ogbia Federal Constituency

Hon. Ebiyun Turner scored a total of 16 votes, to beat his closest rival Hon. Mieteme Obodor who scored 12 votes, while a Former Commissioner for Information, Hon. Daniel Markson-Iworiso had 7 votes, while the incumbent lawmaker Hon. Fred Obua, had 6 votes.

Declaring the results, the returning officer, Mr. ThankGod Embilakpo, said after the fair, free and smooth contest the aspirant with the highest votes Ebiyun Turner, with 16 votes emerged the winner.

At the Yenagoa Federal Constituency, a member of the State House Assembly, Hon. Oboku Oforji won with 74 votes as against his opponents Ogbo Okolovie scored 5 votes and Romanus Lot scoring zero vote.

At the Southern Ijaw Federal constituency, Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei scored 29 votes to defeat a former State Commissioner, Kurokegha Dorgu popularly known as Kabaka with 24 votes.

The other results from Brass/Nembe and Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal constituencies are still being awaited.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the delay in the conduct of the primaries was due to late arrival of election materials to Brass and Sagbama venues of the primaries.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the State chapter of the PDP has commended the security agencies for the success recorded in the last State House of Assembly primaries conducted in the 24 constituencies in the state.

The PDP,in a statement issued yesterday and signed by​ the State Publicity Secetary of the party, Mr. Ogoli Ebiye, described the outcome as a win – win situation for all contestants, admiting that there were minor hitches which led to slight delay in take off for commencement of voting in some centres; the electoral process started on schedule and elections concluded on record time in many centres.

The PDP leadership also condemned the gruesome murder of one Michael Isaiah in Ogbia town, venue of Ogbia Constituency 1 primary election,describing the incident as barbaric and painful, Party reiterates the Governor’s earlier admonition to all aspirants to refrain from mobilising thugs to Primary election grounds as thugs have no role to play in determining who wins in these Primary elections.

The Party called on the security agencies to, without delay, swing into action to unravel and apprehend those behind the dastardly act and bring them to face justice. We express sincere condolences to the family of the bereaved over the unfortunate incident and prays God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
