The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has said that he wishes every day that he is the one in the position of President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president.
Adebayo who was suspected to be referring to the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively said that politicians must always give their opponents the respect, fairness and decency they deserve
Adebayo said this on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday evening.
He said that no amount of bile or bitterness could take anyone to the Presidency and that though he wished every day to be the president, he had no reason to wish the person occupying the seat evil.
Adebayo wrote, “For those of us who aspire to the highest office of President of Nigeria, we must learn from the way Senator John McCain defended Obama when bitter Republicans tried this Chicagoan type mudslinging on Obama’s nationality, credentials and eligibility. McCain shut it down openly.
“No amount of badmouthing, bile or bitterness can take anyone to the Presidency. We need to elevate our politics and give our opponents what they deserve: respect, fairness and decency. Everyday I see @officialABAT on the presidential seat, I wish it was me, but no reason for evil.”
