A Niger Delta based advocacy group against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, known as the Anti Pipeline Vandalisation/Oil Theft and Illegal Bunkering Volunteers, has faulted as “sponsored” and “suspicious” the series of protest embarked upon by some ex-militant youths and over 111 communities from Delta State against the award of OML 30 surveillance contract to Ocean Marine Company owned by Chief Hosa Okunbor.

According to the Anti Pipeline Vandalisation/Oil Theft and Illegal Bunkering Volunteers, though every indigent of the Niger Delta should have a say in what happens in their domain,  the incessant protest against the decision by the Federal Government to award the contract to Ocean Marine company is a sign of desperation some suspect kingpins involved in crude oil theft and illegal activities along the water and creeks of the region.

The advocacy group,  the Anti Pipeline Vandalisation/Oil Theft and Illegal Bunkering Volunteer ,in a statement issued  after a peaceful solidarity protest against alleged sponsored protest, yesterday via email and signed by General FIAWEI PATHFINDER also known as Osama ,stated that it unfortunate and condemnable that the alleged sponsors pay the youths to stage a protest,  “the recent series of protest to Government House Asaba, over pipelines surveillance contract saying that they are sponsored  promoters of violence activities in the creek who wants to reinvent the Niger Delta crisis because they are misguided elements who will stop at nothing to achieve their selfish desires.”

The Group noted that it is quite unfortunate that these youths are still lacking behind for allowing themselves to be used as instruments to entrench illegal activities in the creek of Niger Delta which is a ploy to deceive government.

According to the group, “The protesters and their sponsors are criminally minded elements, and we wish to state clearly that the protesters  and sponsors’ journey was baseless as their claims are far from the truth coupled with cheap blackmail against a well respected peace loving son of the soil of Niger Delta who has contributed a lot  to the development of the Niger Delta region in all his life.”

“The sponsors of the senseless protests against Captain Hosa Okunbor lack moral justification as the claim that High Chief Dr Captain Hosa Okunbor had hijacked the pipeline surveillance contract in the creek was false, he is a Niger Delta and has right to bid for any contract, more so his antecedents speaks volumes of his personality, carriage, charisma and focus on the development of the region through meaningful engagement of youths in the Creek for the pipeline surveillance jobs without any bias”.

“Furthermore, we want to use this medium to call on the Delta State Governor Senator  Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the JTF Sector One Commander and the Commanding Officer of the Nigeria Navy Warri with other law enforcement agencies to disregard the so called misguided protesteers who thronged Government  House, Asaba adding that their allegations that Dr Captain Hosa Okunbor has hijacked their pipeline surveillance contract is baseless and is unfounded and there allegation is far from the truth on ground”.

“And it has come to our knowledge  that this so called group of persons who are behind the series of protest to Government  House, Asaba is a new dimension which they want to use to foment another round of Niger Delta Avengers crisis for their selfish gain and interest which has been their only major stock in trade in the Niger Delta.”

“We call on the Delta State Government with the relevant  security agencies particularly the JTF and the Nigerian Navy  to hold this group of persons who are brain behind the series of protest to create violence in the creek responsible most especially the self acclaimed leader of the protesters in the person of one Mr Tennyson Oriunu and Mr Maxwell Okoh from Bayelsa state who is one of the major sponsors of this protest, if any form of pipeline vandalization and destruction of oil facilities in the Creek happen most especially in the OML 30 pipeline they should be held responsible by the law enforcement agencies.”

“The Anti-pipeline Vandalisation/Oil Theft And Illegal Bunkery Volunteer group will join hands with the law enforcement agencies to fish those behind the incessant protest geared towards causing crisis in the creek from their hiding places and soonest we are going to name all the sponsors who are  behind this senseless, misguided and false allegations that is leading this unfortunate protest that is full cheap blackmail in other to renew there illegal business activities in the Creek.”

” It is high time we have to put a stop to this nonsense because it is now clear to us that this self acclaimed ex militants and group of youths who went to Asaba on November 28,2018 to re- protest against Captain Hosa Okunbor at Government  House are  sponsored, hired and paid by a s group of persons who have hands in the dark days of Niger Delta Avengers activities in 2016 that led to the bombing of Trans Forcados Pipeline in Burutu LGA which is a major delivery crude oil export line jointly owned by SPDC/NNPC joint venture.”

“The major aim of the protesters is to spark violence activities and to mis lead youths in the Creek of Niger Delta to carry out destruction of federal government oil facilities and installations  in other to gain contracts from SPDC and NNPC as a front line negotiators who are well known in the Niger Delta agitation business.’

“We sincerely believe in the Local Content Act which empowers indigenous contractors to execute contract in the oil & gas sector whichHigh Chief Dr Captain Hosa Okunbor is eminently qualified to do any business in the Creek of Niger Delta without any fear as a bonafid son of the Niger Delta region who has contributed immensely to the peace and development of the Niger Delta”.

“Captain Hosa Okunbor was part of those leaders who worked tirelessly to the existing peace that the federal government and the people of the Niger Delta region is enjoying today wen the dark days of Niger Delta Avengers was on in early 2016.”

“Therefore,we equally call on the  Federal government and the Delta State Governments, the Joint Task Force and t Commanding Officer NNS Warri with other relevant law enforcement agencies to take note of their movement and hold them responsible because there series of protest is geard towards committing another form of violence in the Creek.”

“We as a group made up of Ex Militant leaders want to maintain that High Chief Dr Captain Hosa Okunbor is a man of peace who believes in the  overall development of the Niger Delta region with a peaceful approach, and has demonstrated his zeal in different fora, both home and in the diaspora, we are not going to fold our hands to watch and allow this serial liars made up of militant negotiators who derived pleasure in sponsoring young men in the creek to committ criminal activities for their selfish gains to dent the good image of Captain Hosa Okunbor a man known for promoting peace.”

“Dr Captain Hosa Okunbor has contributed a lot to the peace and development of the Niger Delta region so he deserves an oil block to operate or any OML in his God given Father’s Land in the Creek of Niger Delta as a bonafid son of Niger Delta, and we as a group maintain that no amount of cheep blackmail or false allegations levelled against him by evil men shall stop him from carrying out his legal pipeline surveillance contract in the Niger Delta.”

“And it is on record that captain Hosa Okunbor carried along community leaders and youths that are host to the pipeline in the various communities in the Creek to handle this pipeline surveillance jobs transparently without favouritism to individuals or tribe with utmost sense of responsibility due to his competence and capability in handling the pipeline surveillance jobs in the Creek without bias.”

“We are solidly behind Ocean Marine Solutions Limited and will collaborate with all law enforcement agencies in the Creek to checkmate every step of this persons who are behind this series of protest to government house Asaba in other to renew another form of violence in the Creek.”
