Political tension in Bayelsa State as the Nigeria Democratic Congress flagbearer for Southern Ijaw Constituency III, Hon. Ayebamiebi Godwill Ziriki, calls for calm following a Kogi State High Court judgment against the NDC.

The court recently ruled against the party in a case challenging its logo and set asides its earlier ruling ordering INEC to register NDC as a political party. a judgment the NDC has since appealed. The party maintains that the ruling does not invalidate its candidates and insists it will pursue all legal avenues to uphold its constitutional rights.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Ziriki described the judgment as “unfortunate and disappointing” but urged supporters, stakeholders, and the people of Southern Ijaw Constituency III to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and united.

He stressed that democracy thrives on the rule of law and appealed for patience while the appeal process runs its full course. Ziriki warned against inflammatory statements or violence, saying political challenges are part of democracy and must be met with unity and faith in justice.

The NDC flagbearer reassured constituents of his commitment to purposeful representation and to protecting their mandate through lawful means. He thanked supporters for their prayers and confidence, urging them to stay hopeful that justice will ultimately prevail.
