A young man identified as Naziru Magaji has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly killing a grandmother, NaijaliveTv reports.


It was unclear if something had transpired between them, Magaji is said to have, however, pushed Habiba Abubakar into a well in their house after beating her to a pulp.

A police report said that the 25-year-old has admitted to beating mercilessly the 80-year-old grandma before throwing her body inside a well.


Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of the young man to newsmen in a statement on Saturday.

Kiyawa said the incident happened on Friday, at about 1300hrs, at Wangara Village, Tofa Local Government, Kano State.
NaijaliveTv understands that the police after receiving the report immediately swung into action and visited the scene and recover the body of the grandma from the well.


They rushed her to Tofa General Hospital, but she was immediately confirmed dead after examination by a medical doctor.

When interrogated, the suspect confessed to having committed the act under the influence of an intoxicating drug called exol.
Kiyawa said the case had been transferred to the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, after which the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the discreet investigation.


In another news, a 2022 Batch B Youth Corp member identified as Ajang Blessing Ajiji, posted to Nassarawa state has slumped and died.

The unfortunate incident occurred on March 25 at her place of primary assignment, PPA, Government Junior Secondary School, Mangar, Farin Ruwa Development Area, Wamba Council Area.


Reports revealed that the deceased corps member was battling pneumonia before she gave up the ghost. Her body has been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, Mortuary.


The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Governing Board, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, has sent his condolences to NYSC and the families of the deceased.
