The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party PDP has resolved to using Engr. Adedeji Do RCherty as their preferred candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in 2019.
According to party insiders and one of the leaders in Shomolu LGA of the state said though, the primary contest will be between Mr. Jimi Agbaje and Engr. Adedeji Doherty, but posited that they have discussed the chances of Mr. Agbaje as a herculean task, since he failed in the last election in 2015 to defeat the current governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, “it will be a waste of time and resources to present Agbaje as the PDP candidate again” he said.
Another leader and one of the over 2000 delegates, a super delegate himself that will vote this weekend said “Engr. Adedeji Doherty has been a staunch and loyal party members that has not defected to any party since 1999” and stated further that a lot of party members “don’t trust Agbaje that he will cater for members if he wins, because he was a defector from APC” He also said Doherty is loved by many in the party and they see him as someone who can beat anybody presented by the APC in Lagos State.
The primary is set between Engr. Doherty and Mr. Agbaje this coming weekend.
