The Unit leader of the notorious Iceland Cult group in Bayelsa State identified as Uzorma yesterday shot dead at close range one of his members along the Azikoro town area of Yenagoa capital in the State over a rivalry over girlfriend.
They are both identified by residents of the area as notorious cultist and allegedly involved the dealing in illicit drugs and petty robbery along Azikiro town, road and Ekeki community of the state capital.
Uzorma, the alleged killer is reported to be on the wanted list of the State Command but is always shielded by some powerful politicians from Yenagoa Local Government Council.
He was also fingered in a failed attempt to kill a Police Personnel who arrested him some years back after he was brought out of police custody by his political friends.
NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the accused Unit leader, Uzorma, was engaged in an argument with the yet-to-be identified girl on Thursday evening and insisting that she must go home with him to pass the night.
But the girl declined and openly declare his feeling for the deceased which sparked confrontation between the two cult members.
An eyewitness told NAIJA LIVE TV that at about 8pm on Thursday, the deceased with the support of four other members resisted attempt by the Unit leader to “oppress” the decease. They were allowed to fight it out without a victor.
But at about 5am the next morning of Friday, Leadership gathered that Uzorma, who is an indigene of Ibo and Epie in Yenagoa, stormed the house of the deceased and shot him at close range.
“The deceased was woken up in his sleep. He was held down and his eye tied with a cloth. And Uzorma shot him at close range. When the news of the deceased filter out, members and other unit leaders were asking who killed the deceased, Uzorma told them that he was the one that killed him and not any rival gang.”
