Scores of Ijaw Youths under the aegis of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone yesterday stormed filling stations in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital over the non-compliance with the Federal Government new pump price of N125 per litre.

The Ijaw Youths shut down seven filling stations and certified Four others for compliance.

The angry youths that were by the IYC Central zone Chairman, Comrade Kennedy Olorogun explained that their action was informed by the docile attitude of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and other agencies of the Federal Government to ensure compliance with the directive of government to all filing stations to revert from N145 to N125 per lite.

Comrade. Kennedy Olorogun expressed his displeasure over the intentional avoidance of the fuel price reduction in Bayelsa State,adding that other states in the federation has adhered to the #125 per litre reduction, while here in Bayelsa, some filling stations are still selling at the rate of #145.

Comr. Olorogun equally frowned at the nonchalant attitude of DPR and other Petroleum regulatory authorities for not swinging into action to stop this bothersome, declaring that the zonal leadership of Ijaw youths will keep on monitoring the filling stations that are yet to comply with the fuel price reduction

Some of the filling stations that have complied to the federal government directive include Total filling station, Unless God Oil, Sobaz filling station and Tamic Nig. Ltd.

Those shut down by the angry youths include Pados, Ebi Egrin & Sons Nig. Ltd, Okpom’s Oil, Emitare Nig. Ltd, Watgo Petroleum, JJ Wak’s Nig. Ltd and the River Nun filling station.
