Ijaw Group writes IGP, Buhari, Demand true justice for the Murder of Doubra Legbe Who was killed by Lagos Landlords Association Chairman

OPEN LETTER TO THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE, (IGP), MR. MUHAMMED A ADAMU.

We hereby call on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Muhammed A Adamu, to fast-track justice for the murder of Master Steven Doubra Benson Legbe – a fast rising football star from Arogbo extraction of Ijawnation, who have already completed arrangements to travel abroad for trial before the covid-19 pandemic.

The Ijaw Community in Lagos State was shocked by the news of Doubra’s assassination. The young promising footballer, Doubra, our future Finidi George was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday on April 18, 2020 by an Ilaje Man, King Olu, who is the chairman, Landlords Association Victory Estate Iba in Ojo, Lagos State.

Sir, I can vividly and authoritatively tell you and the public that the Ijaw community is still in a state of dismay, because the way and manner he, (Doubra Legbe), was killed strongly indicate that the act of murder by Olu was well premeditated, which was motivated by envy and hatred and carried out in hurry, with high level of impunity.

Sir, an Ilaje man has denied a fascinating and promising Ijaw and Nigeria future ambassador of football his fundamental right to live, when he was assassinated in a commando manner, for reasons best known to the assassin, except for his, (the Assassin’s), demonstration of envy, malice and hatred on that black Saturday.

Nevertheless, residents of Victory Estate and Lagos State as a whole can not pretend to overlook the enormity of damage imposed on Mr. Benson Legbe’s family by the murder of his son. The unwarranted, but deliberate action of this Ilaje man have also inflicted a colossal loss in the Legbe dynasty. It has as well a perpetration of an irreparable injury in Arogbo kingdom and Ijawnation in general.

Having said that, we hereby use this medium to appreciate the Nigerian Police, especially the state CID headquarters, Panti Lagos State, for a job well done so far, for the arrest and detention of the criminal.

We want to also encourage the Nigerian Police force to be fervent and steadfast in their duty as law enforcement body to make sure the murderer is appropriately dealt with in the full measure of the law.

Consequently, we are demanding justice in full according to the law of our land, (Nigeria), because it is the only thing we could demand as we can’t demand that Dobra Legbe and his dreams should to be brought back.

Therefore, it will be unfair for the Nigerian police and the judiciary to let Justice slip in any pretext, because the Ijaw community in Lagos State has been civil and law abiding, even in the face of this unbearable, monumental lost at the hand of Ilaje man.
