Yenagoa – Dr. John Idumange, a former General Manager of the Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Bayelsa) has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

NAIJA LIVE TV recalls that Idumange who was also an aide on research and documentation and later social media aide to former Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson had accused officials of the Bayelsa Government of diverting a N3 billion agric loan and subsequently submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), that led to his arrest.

He was sued by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Bayelsa, Biriyai Dambo, SAN, for misdemeanor and instigative write-ups against government officials.

Idumange was arrested on March 10, 2021, and remanded for 30 days by a Magistrate Court on March 11, 2021, in Yenagoa, pending investigation.

However, a Bayelsa State High Court, Sagbama Division, granted bail to Idumange.

The case, earlier assigned to Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, was reassigned to Justice Uzakah following a written request by the state Attorney-General to the Chief Judge of Bayelsa, Justice Kate Abiri.

Dr. Idumange revealed that he was never a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noting that this is the first time he is joining a political party.

His words: “This is the first time I’m joining a political party officially. I have always believed that development does not only come from political platforms.

“I have reasons why I’m joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state. Since 1999 the Peoples Democratic Party has been the ruling party in Bayelsa State. Now when we say there is misgovernance in the state, all blame and queries go to the PDP.

“Now understand that I am not saying APC and PDP are two different parties, as far as I know, the two political parties do not have serious ideological differences.

“However, when there are two evils somewhere and you are going to select one, at least you must let down certain parameters for selecting that one which you prefer and this is why I have chosen officially to join the APC.”

Idumange who berated the slow pace of development and growth of corruption in Bayelsa also stated that he joined the APC based on the performance it has made in the past seven years.
