The Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council of Bayelsa State, Hon. Bello Bina has yesterday offered reasons for the decline in the violent Sea Pirates attack along waterways and creeks of the council area, attributing it to joint collaboration by the State, the Council administration and the security agencies.

Hon. Bello Bina, said though the hands of God and the performance of the Local Government Administration motivated the peoples acceptance of security strategy and government of inclusion, the decline was due to the arrest of suspected sea pirate informants at loading points along the jetties in various communities ‎of the Council.
The Chairman of Brass Local Council Area, Hon. Bello Bina,who made this known in Yenagoa during an End-of the Year Interactive session with Media Executives and Leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by Comrade John Angese, said since his assumption of office in the council, the security strategy and style of Governance of his administration has conffered the safest local government status on the council in the state.
According to Bina, “Before now, when people here the name Brass Local Government, they immediately thought of violence and sea piracy along the ‎waterways.But now,with the grace of God and the support of the Governor,Hon. Seriake Dickson, the Restoration strategy of inclusion,youth empowerment and infrastructural development has led to a decline in sea piracy and other violent crimes.”
“Since April,when I assume office, criminality and sea piracy has gone down drastically. My administration introduced policy of youth empowerment, inclusion without party politics and development. The issue of sea piracy also caml down when they see performance at the grass root. They are not ghost and have been listening to our warnings too. We also deployed personel to loading Jetties along coastal communities to apprehend suspected informants working for Sea pirates. We have arrested two during this exercise.”
 Meanwhile,the Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council  has constituted a special security taskforce codenamed ”OPERATION TORU-DOUMO” with a mandate to curb sea piracy, oil theft and kidnapping in the area.
Hon. Bello Bina, in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman Comrade Saint Mienpamo,enjoined the leadership of the Taskforce to assiduously protect the environment from wanton destruction and other criminalities.

The Chairman further urged them to consider their appointment as a service to Brass LGA and Bayelsa State at large, noting that their contributions will not go in vain.

The statement further indicated that the taskforce is to lias with the office of the Special Adviser to the chairman on Security matters to give weekly report and also work in synergy with other relevant security agencies in the area.

The Chairman however implored all Security formations in Brass LGA to cooperate with the new taskforce.
