The New Generation leaders of Bayelsa state has asked Ogidi Ben Bara, handler of Tracknews, to retract the post against the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC for the November 11th elections in Bayelsa state, Great Joshua Maciver, within 48 hours or face legal action.

Mr. Ogidi Ben Bara, through his media outlet had alleged that the APC deputy governorship candidate, Great Joshua Maciver was convicted of murder and was sentenced to Kaduna prison.

The post in Track News also alleged that Maciver ‘forged’ the Presidential Amnesty identification card which was issued to him on the 22nd of August 2009 saying that the deputy governorship candidate never embraced the Presidential amnesty programme.

In response to the unverified claims by Tracknews, the Director General (DG) of New Generation leaders of Bayelsa state, Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, dismissed the allegations and explained that Great Joshua Maciver was never at any time convicted for murder as claimed by Mr Ogidi, opined that MacIver is a well known freedom fighter with proven integrity.

“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading post circulating in the media by one Ogidi Ben Bara, who claims to be a blogger operating with tracknews claiming that our deputy Governorship candidate was convicted for murder

“However, to set the record straight, the Great Joshua Maciver is a well known freedom fighter with proven integrity and was never at any time convicted for murder as alleged by the poster

“Mr Ogidi Ben Bara is hereby advice to retract his statement against our principal, apologizing publicly through all media outlets within 48hrs from the time of this publication or face legal actions against himself and his media platforms for defamation of character sponsoring of false information aimed at misleading the general public,” the statement read.

Great Joshua MacIver is the running mate to the governorship candidate of the APC, Chief Timipre Sylva, for the November elections in Bayelsa state.

Meanwhile, the lawyer to the APC deputy governorship candidate, Barr. Benjamin S. Ogbara, has also asked Ogidi Ben Bara to provide evidence of the sentence for murder charge or “be prepared to face trial for cyber stalking under the Cyber Crimes Act. “I will immediately initiate the process for your investigation by security agencies,” he said.

“We will not only charge Ogidi Ben Bara and Tracknews for cyber stalking but we shall also initiate civil process for heavy financial damages from him,” he added.
