PDP INTEGRITY GROUP
PRESS RELEASE!

Contrary to the claimed agreement between the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Bayelsa State PDP elders council and the 21 PDP gubernatorial aspirants, that the state chapter should take the responsibility of accommodating delegates at designated hotels within the city environs three days to the date of the primary, intelligence reveals that delegates have already been ordered to check into hotels by the PDP leadership in the state. This is a breach of whatever deceptive agreement they had.

Specifically, delegates from Yenagoa Local Government Constituency 3 have already been checked into one of the high brow hotels within the city environs, and those of 1 and 2 are ordered to also do so with immediate effect.

We have also been informed that before the end of this week, all the local government ward delegates must have been accommodated at the various designated hotels.
Only about some weeks ago, the state leadership of the party indulged in cloning of INEC and PDP membership card numbers which members of this group protested to the National Leadership. The protest resulted in the directive issued from the national to all delegates to submit their passports, ward and their positions held inline with the party’s constitution. Now we could see the reason behind their desperate move to actualize their aim of cloning through this hurried process of accommodating delegates even before the stipulated so-called agreeable date.

It is no longer rumour that the state leadership of the party has been compromised since the leaked audio tape revealing the chairman of PDP Hon. Moses Cleopas, throwing his weight behind the governor’s preferred choice even when primaries are yet to be conducted. The petition is rightly being looked into by the PDP Disciplinary Committee and action is yet to be taken.

The idea behind the hurried accommodation of delegates at designated hotels by the state chapter barely two (2) weeks to the primary is to detain them at gun point and used the cloned cards to impersonate those of them who have being observed not to be in support of their preferred choice of aspirant.

Those opposed to their orders might be detained and may not be allowed to exercise their constitutional franchise of voting at the venue, and in their stead, bring in non-delegates to replace them.

Members of the PDP Integrity Group has been raising the red flag relating to the partial conduct of some state party leadership especially the chairman, who has recently shown open endorsement of the governor’s choice and has gone ahead to promise total compliance by all delegates under his watch.

It would be foolhardy for any genuine aspirant and critical stakeholders not to condemn this ill motivated action taken by the state chapter all in hurry to get at all cost, the five man delegates at the ward levels, since their hope of including the local government chairmen, their vice and councilors seems to have being dashed as a result of section 8(10) of the PDP Constitution.

Having noticed non compliance and loyalty by supposed delegates at the ward levels, they have now gone ahead to device a more sinister, ridiculous and primitive method of confining delegates to hotels all in a desperate bid to completely shut out all aspirants except their preferred choice from gaining access to these delegates.

This ill motivated attempt must be resisted by all stakeholders and aspirants expecting a smooth democratic process devoid of any manipulation and undemocratic conduct.

Finally, we are calling on the National Leadership of our party to quickly intervene and caution the state leadership to stop this evil machination as it is capable of affecting the bright chances of the party at the November 16th polls.

Failure to address this untoward act by the National Leadership will result in mass protest by members of this group both in the state and Abuja headquarters of the party to register our displeasure.
