Political stakeholders from the creek Communities of ward 4 and 5 of Ekeremor Constituency One has nominated Dr Adolphus Owoupele as the sole candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Primaries for the forthcoming Bayelsa State House of Assembly elections.
Dr. Adolphus Owoupele, who hails from Angalawei-gbene Community in Ward 4 of Ekeremor Local Government Council, was the unanimous choice of the party faithful who voted during a stakeholders parley which held at the residence of the PDP Stalwarts and Elderstateman, Chief Torpedo Amanagha, in Yenagoa.
Dr Owoupele won other three opponents in the race with 17 votes against Mr Germany Okporu with 8 votes and the incumbent councillor of Ward 4, Hon. Ken Ekiye with 2 votes.
This was the verdict reached at an enlarged stakeholders meeting comprising top political stalwarts from both Ward 4 and 5 of Ekeremor Constituency One following a directive from the party leadership to adopt concensus candidate for the forthcoming party primaries.
Dr Owoupele who is a graduate of History and Diplomacy from the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU) has a Professional Diploma in Human Resource Management and an Honourary Doctorate Degree from the British Standard University.
In his remarks, convener of the meeting, Chief Torpedo Amanagha stated that the race was made open and transparent for all political stakeholders from both Wards 4 and 5 of Ekeremor Constituency One so as to choose a popular candidate with track record of service to the party and the people and Mr. Adolphus Owoupele was elected as the unanimous choice to be forwarded to the party leadership for ratification.
Barrister Morris Sanuku and Comrade Frank Olotu of Ekeremor Ward 5 also shed light on the acceptance of Dr. Adolphus Owoupele for the choice State Assembly seat as they say having a creek indigene to represent the people of Ekeremor Constituency One as the party standard bearer shall go a long way in giving them a sense of belonging to the party and the Prosperity government of Governor Douye Diri.
In his acceptance speech, an elated Dr Adolphus Owoupele, pledge to work with all party faithful when finally ratified by the party leadership as he pledged to bring his Wealth of experience to bear as a Human Resource Manager to take the party to victory at the general poll come 2023.
The stakeholders called on all delegates to support the candidacy of Dr Adolphus Owoupele as the concensus candidate to represent the creek Communities of ward 4 and 5 of Ekeremor Constituency One in forthcoming Bayelsa State House of Assembly Primary Polls as it shall be the first time in 30 years that the Assembly Seat which has been dominated by others shall be ceded to the people of the Creeks of Ward 4 and 5 in Ekeremor Constituency One and for this they are grateful to the party leader Senator Douye Diri for this gesture.
