The victory of the Governor-Elect of Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon, at the Appellant Court sitting in Port Harcourt, last week, dismissing Senator Lokpobiri’s case against Lyon, has been described as an act of God in affirmation of the Divine mandate of the people’s choice of Lyon in the November 16th governorship poll.

Hon. Selekeme Koroye, an indigene of Toru-Orua in Sagbama Local Government Area, who is a kinsman of the out-going governor, made this assertion over the weekend while delivering his charge to thousands of his support base who throng the secretariat of his socio political group : “Grassroots Support Movement (GSM) For Lyon/Degi” in Toru-Orua.

Hon. Selekeme further stated that Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and other pocket opposition in the APC and PDP, should accept the judgment in good faith as David Lyon’s mandate has come to stay for the good and betterment of all Bayelsans and residents of the state for the next eight years.

In his words: “The Grassroots Support Movement (GSM) For Lyon/Degi which has been in the vanguard of mobilizing youths and other vulnerable groups for the APC in Sagbama and the Bayelsa West District, has been in existence since 2015. I and my supporters have been with the party since then.

“Even after the APC lost the 2015 governorship election to PDP, we, as grassroots mobilsers for APC in Sagbama Constituency One, never relented but remained steadfast – amidst opposition from other kinsmen who saw us as outcasts these past seven years and counting – all because of our support for APC in a PDP dominated enclave because the out-going governor is from my community, Toru-Orua.”

Hon. Selekeme, the APC Chieftain, also appreciated the party leader, Chief Timipre Sylva (for endorsing Lyon and spear heading the change of government ) , Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena (who is doing a great job sensitising the nation on matters of urgent importance ) and other party chieftains from the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, such as: Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, Nestor Binabo, Peremobowei Ebebi, Robinson Etolor and not forgetting Hon. Francis kolokolo, Captain karimo, Hon. Tengi and Godbless Micah amongst others for their roles in the successful take over.

He also thanked the party leadership for appointing him a member of the Lyon/Degi Campaign Team in the 2019 governorship election where he served in the Transport Sub-Committee that saw Lyon/Degi defeat their rivals and are billed to be sworn in next month on Valentine’s Day.

Assuring thousands of indigenous APC supporters who converged on Toru-Orua in solidarity with Lyon and the APC, Hon Selekeme, charged the eight Local Government Coordinators and 105 Wards Executive of the Grassroots Support Movement (GSM) For Lyon/Degi – not to relent but continually project the goodwill of the governor-elect, David Lyon, ahead of his formal inauguration so as to let the people know – especially those from Sagbama and Ekeremor – of the good intentions of Lyon for all Bayelsans as he is sure to justify the confidence reposed on him by the electorate.
