The Governor òf Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has announced a donation of N100 million grant to the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Foundation.

The Governor who made the announcement while speaking as the Chief Host of the launching of Jonathan’s book, My Transition Hours, also announced a monthly grant of five million Naira to the Foundation in honour of the Former President.

A statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Dickson on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, stated that the governor also handed over a Certificate of Occupancy of a six hectare land in Yenagoa which he donated to the foundation to the former President.

He stressed that the Bayelsa State government and indeed the good people of the state were appreciative of the foundation in honour of the former President and would be ready to partner with it.

Dickson said that “life is all about service, commitment to principles and policies that are bigger than all of us. That is what Jonathan represents.”

Governor Dickson noted that the story of Jonathan was not fully captured in the book that was presented as many people would take different angles to write the story of the former President and his leadership in the country.

He called on Nigerians to support the Jonathan foundation and the advancement of democratic governance in the country.

“The Government and people òf Bayelsa appreciates the establishment of the GEJ foundation; we shall partner with it and I enjoin all of you to support it to advance the cause of democracy.” He added

Governor Dickson said he had worked closely with the former President for years and wished him many more years of good health and happiness.

In attendance at the event were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head State, Yakubu Gowon, Former Head òf State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Representative òf Former President Shehu Shagari, Aisha Babangida who represented her father, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, and Former President òf Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

Others are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President and Presidential Candidate òf the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Prof. Ike Ekweremadu, Speaker of the House òf Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Chairman òf the People’s Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, His All Progressives Congress counterpart, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Former ministers , national lawmakers, traditional rulers the business community and others.

All the notable Nigerians, diplomats, foreign leaders lawmakers who spoke at the event were full of encomiums for the former President who was celebrated for preventing Nigeria from going into a needless war by conceding electoral defeat in 2015.

In his remarks, Jonathan Jonathan who thanked the distinguished array of guests at the event condemned the issue of vote buying during elections in Nigeria.

He said that the issue of vote buying and the inducement òf voters was becoming scandalous and indeed a source of worry.

The former President said that the book My Transitions Hours contained some of the decisions which he took during and after the 2015 election.
