YENAGOA — The management of Darlon Oil and Gas Limited has drawn the attention of relevant authorities to a threat by some unknown persons threatening to vandalize crude oil pipelines in various locations in Bayelsa State.

It will be recalled that on Friday, banners bearing the image of Lyon, the CEO of Darlon Oil and Gas Limited were sighted in some parts of Yenagoa.

The banners which were erected by unknown persons claim Lyon is owing contractors working for his company for 29 months and has refused to pay.

Inscriptions on the banner also accused Lyon of using men of the Nigerian military to witchhunt contractors for demanding their pay.

Responding to the claims in a statement on Friday, the Chairman of Darlon Oil and Gas Limited, Chief Levi Wilson appealed to security agencies to take the threat seriously and commence an investigation into the matter as soon as possible.

He revealed that one of the said banners which conveyed the inciting and weighty allegations was still being displayed at the Sports Complex for everyone to see.

Giving further clarification on the allegations raised, Chief Levi said that it is laughable and regrettable for anyone to suggest the company is owing its contractors for 29 months.

“If the persons that are accusing Darlon Oil and Gas Limited of owing contractors are not sponsored on a mission to tarnish the image of the company, it is expected that such complaints should have been channeled to the appropriate quarters for attention.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to appeal to our accusers to provide evidence that a formal complaint has been forwarded to our office without any response from us if their intentions are genuine.

“However, we wish to inform the general public that it is on record that the company is in good financial standing with all its contractors and partners up to date, appeal that the allegations should be disregarded until proven to be true.

“We are using this medium to advise the messengers of the threat to rather devote their time in supporting the fight against pipeline vandalism which will, in turn, increase the revenue of Nigeria and Bayelsa State,” the statement reads in part.

The statement assured members of the public that Darlon Oil and Gas Limited remains grateful to all its partners and stakeholders who have contributed so much to the fight against crude oil theft.

The company equally promised that no partner or stakeholder will be abandoned.

MEANWHILE, concerned Bayelsan, Comrade Ebinepre Tarilayefa has berated some individuals who he described as miscreants for trying to tarnish the good image of Chief David Lyon by pasting banners with libelous inscriptions in some parts of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

But in a statement on Friday, Tarilayefa while condemning some social media influencers for sharing photos of the said banners, averred that he is not surprised to see the campaign of calumny against Lyon, knowing that people are good at repaying good with evil.

The statement reads in part:

“This is a man who had used his surveillance contract to sustain families and made men out of boys and you will never hear about him owing or exploiting his employees.

“If the masterminds of this evil campaign are real contractors to Lyon’s security company, Darlon, then they ought not to hide in banners.

“Real contractors who are owed either by the government, private organizations or individuals know exactly relevant quarters with which they can channel their grievances, and not publicize blatant lies against a man who has done so much for his people.

“How much is Lyon owing them? Where are the documents showing he or his company is indebted to them? Where is the place they worked that he has not paid them for? Where have they lodged their complaints?”

He asserted that the libelous posters could be the handiwork of rival contractors, political enemies or ungrateful beneficiaries of the former governor-elect who continues to enjoy the goodwill of the masses due to his humility, selflessness and commitment to good governance.
