A Non- Governmental Organization (NGO), David Lyon Foundation, has distributed over 5,000 food items and cash gifts to the aged and less privileged people including widows, orphans, and person living with disabilities in Bayelsa State.
This is to allow these group of persons enjoy the yuletide.
Presenting the items, founder of the foundation and the Governor-elect of Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon, said the gesture is part of his love for the physically challenged and the aged in the state, adding that he has always told the people of the state that their monies belong to them and not his personal money.
Lyon, also reiterated that the donation is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the less privileged in the state.
“I have always told us that Bayelsa monies belong to you all, and not David Lyon’s money and I will never touch it. The money is for the development of the state. Tomorrow is Christmas and am here to celebrate with you all with love, when you get your things ensure you stay at home and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with your families”

Earlier in his remark, former member of the federal House of representative, Southern Ijaw, Hon. Henry Ofongo, commended the Governor-elect for his kind gesture, noting that this is not the first time and it has gradually become his life style.
Ofongo said “This has been his life style, we all know how it is for Bayelsans this period, so for him to do this it speaks so much of him. He has specifically talked about his love for this group of persons, he loves reaching out to them in order to make them have a sense of belonging so they won’t feel forgotten”
“I also call on all other well meaning Bayelsans to emulate the incoming governor on what he is doing”
In his brief, a member of the foundation and general overseer, Authority of Christ Deliverance Ministry, Apostle Giddy Satu, thanked God for how he’s using the Governor-elect in blessing the people of the state particularly the less privileged.
He also pray that God will continue to give him the strength to continue with what he has started.
