Bayelsa West: Dickson Only Options to win any elective office is via election rigging and institution of violence – APC

The campaign organization of Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi for Senate in the forthcoming senatorial bye-election for Bayelsa West slated for 31st October, 2020 has expressed great shock following the refusal of the PDP candidate in the said election to comment on the trending allegations levelled against him, ‘captioned “one hundred and one reasons why Hon. H. S. Dickson is not electable at all levels”.

The issues contained therein are issue-based campaigns raised by concerned Bayelsans in all divides, which the Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi campaign organisation has noted that they are quite germane and fundamental in dictating the nature of our unconsolidated democracy.

According to the Campaign Organization, the refusal on the part of Hon. H. S. Dickson to clear himself of the damning allegations is an indication that he cannot be the mouthpiece of the Izon Nation as it has become unjustifiable and therefore, serves as a subterfuge.

The APC Campaign outfit believes that the ”one hundred and one reasons” as alleged by well-meaning Bayelsans is a conspicuous indication that the monthly transparency briefing undertaken by Hon. H. S. Dickson during his eight years reign as Governor was a mere monthly ritual that did not bear any resemblance of a true transparency. It states that the existing law was flagrantly violated in a manner that only sought to maintain sectional interest, as the entire exercise for eight years did not capture proceeds from state investments such as BDIC, Bayelsa State Oil Company, Linkage Insurance, Bayelsa Plastic Company etc.

Moreso, the group alleges that the monthly ritual by Governor Dickson did not also capture the proceeds from the Oluasari/Soku windfalls, amounting to N19.7 billion. It is therefore an embarrassment that Hon. H.S. Dickson is seeking an elective position, when he had failed to defend himself.

The above scenario was further exacerbated as it is in public domain that Hon. H. S. Dickson had said severally that he had no financial records to present when requested by the botched incoming APC government of Chief David Lyon before the miracle Governor, Sen. Douye Diri arrived the scene.

This ugly development is a clear confirmstion that he is not fit to hold any public office that is to be determined by the electorates or else it implies that the electorates are not alive to their avowed responsibilities.

The group notes that the above-said standpoint is supported by another school of thought, which states that in civilised climes, by virtue of his infamous decisions while in government, Hon. H. S Dickson ought to be openly rejected by the electorates, society monitors and checkers such as anti-graft agencies.

Secondly, the same school of thought further holds that the only option for Hon. H. S. Dickson to win any elective office is via election rigging and institution of violence, as he had deliberately occasioned misrule that had made Bayelsans to live far below average. Infact, by reason of the level of impoverishment, the phenomenon of poverty has now become a major issue, prevalent in the entire state and affecting all citizens.

Hence, the APC Campaign DG., Hon. Ofoni D. Williams states that there is the need to vote wisely on the side of the electorates and in doing so, by voting for Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi for Senate, come 31st October, 2020 they have secured their future, stressing that Hon. H. S. Dickson should, for once, develop listening ears to suppress his anti-democratic credentials by honourably withdrawing from the race without further delay. The campaign DG notes that that is the least condition required of Hon. H. S. Dickson because any attempt of winning the election speaks volumes, as earlier noted, to mankind and society.
