ADVERT RATE

Bayelsa State, the home of the Izon land, often referred to by many people as the Jerusalem of the Izon Nation has assumed another dimension. In the past, it was painted with all forms of derogatory colourations such as capital of darkness, forest capital, both of which were confirmed by the immediate past PDP Restoration Government, led by Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson.

As if the above sordid descriptions were not enough, the state has yet gotten another accolade. This time, “Bayelsa state, the experimental destination” whereby the state is now experimental guinea-pig for all manner of experiments – be it from the judiciary, INEC and the home government itself.

Oh yes! litigation of the Governorship election had come to an end but issues concerning the Governorship legal fireworks remain resounding, which gave birth to our miracle governor Sen. Douye Diri. Interestingly, it remains a miracle because it has brought to bear that the supreme court must equally vote and, to a large extent, the collective will of Bayelsa people do not matter or count, as the judgement never factored the Bayelsa electorates.

In the same vain, it remains a political shock as all appellants in the just concluded legal journey of Bayelsa State Governorship withdrew the entire suits seeking the nullification of the said election.

In addition to the above, INEC has seized the opportunity of a federal high court decision to demarket APC and its candidate in the forthcoming bye-elections slated for 5th Dec, 2020, knowing fully well that federal high court judgement does not, in any way, represent finality.

The action of INEC, in this circumstance, is likened to the attitude of a drunken commercial truck driver, who does not consider the weighty outcome of his reckless driving.

This goes to imply that INEC is insensitive and is out to set confusion in no small measure; it is an open invitation for crises or is an indication of premeditated action that is pending. Hence, they decided to test the waters with its ill-conceived action and conduct in advance, concerning the senatorial bye-elections slated for 5th Dec., 2020.

However, it is imperative to note that Bayelsa State is also known for some positive experiments. Notable among them is disarmament exercise, undertaken by chief Timipre Sylva, while as Governor of the state, currently, the Minister for petroleum Resources (state).

Undoubtedly, Bayelsa youths are in a crossed-road because of the absence of standardisation of the content of good governance. Hence, they are divided over the conduct and attitude of INEC, on party lines.

Whereas, the conduct of INEC has created far -reaching effects on society, as one side of the divide seems to be celebrating unjustly to the detriment of healthy society, where law and conduct reign and shape mankind for a peaceful society for all, including generations yet unborn.

The Izon Nation is watching while all these developments occur day in, day out, unbatedly. Upon this developments, Bayelsa youths need to justify their participation in the End SARS protest. Failure to do so implies that they must be sowing wrongly and shall be consumed by the silence approach adopted unjustly.

Let it not be only on historical grounds that His Majesty, Alfred Spiff is a Bayelsan, who became Governor of old Rivers State at the age of 24 years.

In the same vein, let not the inspirational statement of our only Dame Patience Jonathan go in vein (oh there is God oh !).

Therefore, individuals and institutions must conduct themselves in a positive (productive) manner that shall be beneficial to mankind and society, as judgement is being awaited one day or at the end of it all, as we must all account for our deeds.

On the part of our home government, led by miracle Governor, Sen DIRI. His government had obtained loan of 3O billion naira in less than ten months of it existence, without any obvious impact on the land space and citizenry.
