…Promote Ijaw Culture in Movies, Information Commissioner Charges Association of Movie Producers in his office.

In a bid to get wider coverage and dissemination of information, the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP has seeks a strategic partnership with the Bayelsa state Government through the Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy.

Hon. Ayiba Duba the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy gave the charge to the newly elected Chairman Mr Max Opoi Jerry saying his ministry is ready to work with the association since AMP is the the employer of labour in Nollywood.

He noted that the State is blessed with rich cultures, languages, artifacts, and biodiversities to be exposed by the movie industry.

Hon. Ayiba Duba who assured the support of the Ministry, urged the state chapter of AMP to propagate the cultural heritage of the Ijaw man, by telling the Ijaw stories that revolve around truth and resilience, in a bid to change the narrative expressed by those who do not understand the hopes and aspirations of the people.

Earlier, the newly elected Chairman thanked the prosperity administration led by His Excellency Senator Douye diri for the face lift of the emerging new capital city stressing that with the new look of Yenagoa, he can show the state to movie makers outside the state to come and make movies because it is only through movies that you can sell a beauty of any state and Bayelsa is gradually getting to that point where we can point the direction of Bayelsa with confidence especially looking at the Etegwe Tombia Round About and other areas.

He noted that the movie industry provides so many opportunities; in acting, directing, script/screen writing, costuming, makeup and more, adding that the association will be hosting the maiden edition of the Bayelsa Movie Summit to bring relevant stakeholders together to chart a course of progress for the movie industry in the state stressing that the Movie Summit will serve as an opportunity to develop a strategic policy document to engage youths in the different components of movie making that will have a multiplier effect on the Bayelsa State economy and the theme: of the summit is the Role of Government and the private sector participation.
