BAYELSA ELECTION PETITION: HON. BELLO BINA DISMISSES APC ALLEGED CLAIM TO SUPREME COURT CASE

The Eight existing Local Government Council Chairmen in Bayelsa State yesterday dismissed as “laughable” and “show of ignorance” the alleged claim by some politicians under the All Progressive Congress (APC) that the anticipated ruling of the Supreme Court on the petition filed by the Former Governor of the State, Chief Timipre Sylva will upturn the victory of Governor Seriake Dickson.

The Bayelsa Council Chairmen, under the aegis of the Association of Local Government ‎of Nigeria (ALGON), stated that though past antics of the opposition politicians from the State have come to failure on the issue of election petitions, the PDP is confident of victory at the Supreme Court.

The Bayelsa ‎ALGON, through the Publicity Secretary and the Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council, Hon. Bello Bina, said the people of the State have made their choice and noon can steal the peoples mandate” we don’t have any fear or panic over the rumor they are peddling. They are known to always celebrate and fail. The PDP are not disturbed by the celebration of fake victory by the APC. It is a mandate given to the Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson”

“If the A‎PC are celebrating their conjured victory from the Supreme Court, It is not going anywhere. First they took us to the Election Petition Tribunal asking for the cancellation of the Governorship poll,they lost. What I expected them to do is to come and join us to develop Bayelsa State. They went to the Appeal Court asking for a Re-run poll, they failed woefully. Now they are at the Supreme Court and spreading fake rumor.It will not go anywhere.”

“‎The people of the State should be assured that it is the same judgement given at the Tribunal and Appeal Court, that is the same judgement the judges will giv

e at the Supreme Court. They know it. The judges know it. The people of the State should not panic. For us that have taken risk with the Party and the people, i told the people that I will go on exile and I meant it. I am here to say that Bayelsa people should not panic and the victory is for the PDP despite the arrest and intimidation of judges.”

‎On the alleged attempts to brine the Supreme court judges, Hon. Bello Bina dismissed the claim as a sign of desperation by the opposition party, ” we know the number of people in Bayelsa State and it is what the people want that must be given. ‎If they have passed any judgement in favour of anybody, of which it not possible, The Judges are people who have credibility to decide on the truth. And they should know that Bayelsa is not like any other states.”

“‎It is a clear case. The PDP should be rejoicing. And we know that the arrest of the judges was done because they were not compromising. Even if they conduct election a million times in the state, the PDP will win. If they arrest and intimidate the judges to deliver contrary judgement. It will not work. The judges should not play with the lives of Bayelsa people by handing a fake judgement.”
