…Calls for his continued support

Bayelsa Born Ace Comedian and Businessman, MC Ogoniba Senibo has lauded the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva for his strides in the oil and gas Industry.

The Bayelsa Born Ace Comedian, In a statement sent to NAIJA LIVE TV on Monday in Yenagoa, the Odioma born comedian praised Sylva’s deep sense of patriotism, altruism and faith in the Nigerian project, saying he has demonstrated unbroken focus in revolutionizing the oil and gas industry in order to bring Nigeria at par with other oil and gas producing nations.

Mc Senibo’s statement is coming on the heels of some misguided and ill-informed comments, calling to question the competence of Sylva as the minister for Petroleum Resources.

The ace comedian called on all and sundry to continue to support Sylva to finish strong, as the President Muhammadu Buhari administration winds down, he also called on all those who have been helped by Sylva to hold appointive and elective offices, to reach out to as many party adherents as possible in order to lessen the burden on the minister’s shoulders.

The statement reads in part;
“I have observed with utter dismay the deliberate and calculated attempt to malign and impugn Sylva’s character by some faceless individuals, who are attempting to call to question his competence as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. It is more troubling to note that those perpetrating this mischief are people of Ijaw extraction.

“Without question, Sylva remains one of the finest leaders in Ijaw nation and it behoves on every true Ijaw son and daughter to not only accord him the respect due to him, but to support him to succeed as the minister of state for Petroleum Resources, because he has continued to make Ijaw nation proud.

“In 2019 when Sylva was made the minister of state for Petroleum Resources, he had a clear-cut 9 point priority agenda set before him by President Muhammadu Buhari, which are: Complete Gas Flare Commercialization Programme; Increase crude oil production to 3 million b/d; Eradicate the smuggling of premium motor spirit, (PMS) across the borders; Reduce the cost of crude oil extraction by at least 5%; Aggressively promote the passage of Deep offshore and inland Basin Production Sharing Contract Amendment; Create large number of well-paying jobs; Aggressively promote the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill; Implement Strategy towards 100 million Nigerians out of poverty; and to Increase domestic refining capacity.

“It is noteworthy to state that Sylva has delivered on the priority mandate given to him by Mr President. He has ticked all the boxes. His strides are undoubtedly outstanding, contrary to what his traducers would want the world to believe. We can see the sweeping changes in the oil and gas industry, ranging from the passage into law of the Petroleum Industry Bill, and the Presidential assent that has made it an Act of law. This feat in itself gives credence to Sylva’s mastery in navigating through a complex maze which has before now perplexed his predecessors. This is a revolutionary achievement deserving of accolades for the man who made it happen. Thanks to the PIA, we now have the upstream commission as well as the midstream/downstream regulatory authority and have secured the confidence of investors who had hitherto no interest in investing in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

“With barely a year into office, the veil of opacity that has characterized the operations of the NNPC for over forty-four years was shredded, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) publishing it’s first financial statement. Today, Nigerians can access the records of the NNPC for the assessment of its performance. Rehabilitation work on all our refineries is proceeding on schedule, to ensure we commence refining of crude oil in-country. Securing the final investment decisions for the LNG Limited train 7 project and the very important 614 kilometres Ajakuta-Abuja-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, are feats also deserving of commendation because at completion, they will generate millions of jobs across the value chain.

“The National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) as well as the decade of gas project launched by President Buhari in 2020 are laudable initiatives that will make Nigeria foremost gas investment destination.

“We all know how brazenly our crude oil was stolen, with the perpetrators having a field day unchallenged. Today, Sylva is at the forefront, spearheading the fight against crude oil theft which has left our nation gasping for breath. This daring initiative has provided many youths in the Niger Delta with gainful employment, as well as increase our crude oil production. It has spared our environment from the devastation caused by illegal refining. The giant strides of Sylva are plethora and will give him a pride of place in the hall of fame of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Anyone attempting to discredit him is on a wild goose chase. I advise such persons to stop dissipating energy on a fruitless endeavour.

“Let me at this point digress a little by calling on all those who are beneficiaries of Sylva’s benevolence, by this i mean those he has helped to occupy appointive and elective office. They should endeavour to carry others along, especially party Faithfuls, so as to reduce the burden on the shoulders of Sylva who happens to be the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state. This call has become imperative because of the need to give party members a sense of belonging” he said.
