Azikel Group Denies IYC Central Zone Peace Talks, Clarifies Position on Daukoru Kariyai Matter

The Office of the President of Azikel Group, Dr. Eruani Azibapu, CFR, has denied claims by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone that it was involved in peace discussions over the legal matter involving Daukoru Kariyai and Ebilate Yebei.

In a press release signed by the Lead Spokesperson, Austin Ebibade, the office stated that while Dr. Azibapu acknowledged communication with the national leadership of the IYC regarding the ongoing criminal and civil cases before the court, it has had no direct or indirect communication with the IYC Central Zone Chairman, Comrade Perekosufa Ineife.

The statement also dismissed claims contained in the IYC Central Zone’s press release of July 26, 2026, stressing that there is no scheduled meeting between the Azikel Group President and the IYC Central Zone on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

According to the office, the clarification became necessary to correct what it described as inaccurate information circulating in the public domain and to set the record straight regarding its involvement in the matter.
