ADVERT RATE

Again, the Bayelsa State Government has described the APC in the state as party of desperate attention seekers who are yet to recover from the excruciating defections that rocked the party.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, said in a statement on Sunday that the state Government would not be distracted by the antics of a desperate band of APC leaders who anchor their politics on lies, mischief and violence.

He said that the state Government was given a mandate by the Bayelsa people to restore and put the state on the path of glory which the Restoration Administration under the effective leadership of the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson has done for the past six years.

Soriwei said that the Government had better things to do with its quality time than to venture into exchanges with the political operatives of a sinking ship.

The Governor’s Aide said that the government was shocked by the level of absurdity and hypocrisy displayed by the APC and its leaders in Bayelsa with regards to the issue of the Bayelsa State International Cargo/Passenger Airport.

The Commissioner said that the leader of the APC in Bayelsa, and former Governor òf the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, spent billions of funds unaccounted for in a failed Airport Project at the Okordia/Zarama axis of the state.

He wondered how a political party whose leaders used a failed airport project to siphon billions of Naira from Bayelsa State would arrogate to itself the moral authority of a judge to raise non existent and imagined issues about the effectively executed Airport Project in Bayelsa.

He accused the APC of crying wolf where there is none adding that corruption and deceits remained the loudest features of the APC administration led by Sylva which was rejected twice at the polls by the Bayelsa people.

He said that a political party genuinely interested in probity and accountability would the circumspect enough to ask questions about the 44 houses the APC leader, Sylva, built with monies misappropriated during his regime of the locust in Bayelsa.

He added that the APC Spokesman deliberately avoided the issues raised about what Sylva did with N300 billion Agriculture Loan from the World Bank, the N125 billion bond obligation he foisted on Bayelsans and an addition N3 billion MDG funds made available to his administration raised by the government, in his repeated statement.

Soriwei said that a group of people whose leadership allocated N68 billion out N708,896,925 billion and additional N22 billion IGR to capital projects should not be taken seriously on the critical issue of development.

He said, “Again, the APC in Bayelsa is composing a swan song anchored on the laudable Bayelsa International Cargo Airport.

“The State Government led by the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson has a mandate to effectively utilize state resources to bring development to the state and would not be distracted.

“It is quite unfortunate that Chief Timipre Sylva whose administration spent billions of Naira on a foot path to an abandoned airport site in Okordia Zarama could arrogate to himself the moral authority to query the Bayelsa International Airport which was meticulously executed and awaiting presidential inauguration.

“Bayelsans have not forgotten the culture of waste, corruption, violence, insecurity and impunity that marked the APC Government led by Sylva. They are not in a hurry to return to the APC Egypt of underdevelopment, massive fraud and corruption after tasting the breath of Restoration.

“The people are also aware of the fact that Timipre Sylva and the APC are the same and not separable in Bayelsa. His antics are known and the government is not in a rush to dignify his mischief exemplified by the APC statement with explanation.

“We have said that Sylva’s strongest argument against the EFCC’s allegation of corruption is his membership of the APC. He shall surely have his day in the court of justice.”
