The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, has formally unveiled her new look annual Journal Christened ANA Bayelsa Review, to mark the state chapter’s 19th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the national body.

At an elaborate ceremony which held in Yenagoa, over the weekend, guest reviewer of the journal, Professor Blessing Igwesi, of the Niger Delta University, described the new look edition of the ANA Bayelsa Review, as an imprint of intellectual prowess by the executive and editorial team whom she lauded for their ingenuity and creativity.

Professor Igwesi maintained that journals serve as veritable tools for academic research articles which contribute greatly to the nations educational advancement.

Prof Igwesi commended the Dr. Akpos Adesi-led executive of ANA Bayelsa for surpassing the expectations of members through robust literary programmes.

While unveiling the ANA Bayelsa Review Journal, Chairman of the day’s occasion, who is the Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board, High Chief Millionaire Asangba, charged writers not to relent in their enthusiasm but keep the flames of literature burning so as to make the issue of reading and writing a front burner.

Comrade Julius Laye, who is the Bayelsa State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), described the journal as timely considering the in-depth research articles therein as it has the potentials of developing ANA members and the society at large.

Earlier in his opening address, Chairman of ANA Bayelsa, Dr. Akpos Adesi, stated that his executive was motivated to embark on the supposed mission impossible in order to prove sceptics and detractors wrong that publishing a full fledged academic journal of international standards to replace the moribund Mariner, was a mirage.

Dr. Adesi was full of praises for the over fifty contributors and the editorial team ably led by Professor Ogaga Okuyade, as Editorial Advisor, ANA Bayelsa Secretary, Ebipreye Egbenpere, as Editor-in-Chief, and his Vice-Chairman, Amatare Mozimo, as Managing Editor, who worked night and day on such short notice to produce the new look ANA Bayelsa Review which he described as a masterpiece of academic excellence that shall stand the test of time and has come to stay.

Highpoint of the occasion was the formal unveiling and launch of the maiden series of the new ANA Bayelsa Review to replace the obsolete ANA Mariner Magazine – which lost touch with time, as over half a million naira was raked in during the book launch for ANA Bayelsa.
