The Edo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mitchell Ofoyeju, says women accounted for the highest number of suspected drug traffickers arrested in the state in July.
Speaking during the decoration of 73 newly promoted personnel at the command headquarters in Benin City, Mr. Ofoyeju disclosed that 49 suspects were arrested during the month, comprising 29 females and 20 males.
He added that the command seized 2,596.29 kilograms of illicit drugs within the period, noting that the trend reflects the growing socio-economic vulnerability of women and the weakening of traditional family structures.
