Why the Youths Must have a voice for a Secured Future – Amb. Igali

I am firmly convinced that the forthcoming Governorship Election in Bayelsa State on November 16, 2019 is about the future. That is the future of the Bayelsa young men, young women, children, infants, those unborn and even those who will be called old men and old women, tomorrow. This is sacred, awesome and l must add, compelling.

It is in response to that realization that my PROJECT BAYELSA Campaign Organization, took a departure from the typical structures, to have a Youth Secretariat on the main Isaac Boro Expressway, where campaign staff and I interact daily with the teeming youths.  Principally, listening to them, appreciating more deeply their hopes and fears and jointly thinking through on the way forward for a secured and assured future. From my last weekly ‘Open Interaction’ with 400 participants, the very vibrant youth and l detailed thoughts on the future, requiring:

i) Peace and Security;

ii) Prosperity and economic development and building of ‘Co-Prosperity Zone’ with our neighbours;

iii) Social wellbeing and modern, 21st century living and emotional security;

iv) Unfettered acess to education, knowledge and large-scale human capacity development;

v) Creation of a national hub for Innovation and Technological Applications in daily existence;

vi) Environmental Security and Ecological preservation and restoration;

vii) Affordable Housing and Shelter, both in urban and in rural communities;

viii) Personal Well-being in terms of Universal Health coverage, Nutrition care and Recreation;

ix) Economic inclusion, gender parity and building of a total Entrepreneurial society;

x) Optimal exploitation of Natural resources (Agricultural, Aquaculture/Deep Sea Fishing, Oil/Gas, Maritime and Onshore/Marine Solid Minerals and the Service Sector)

xi) Modern infrastructural revolution and total opening up of the state.

xii) True Ijaw cultural renaissance and language development; etc, etc.

From all of human civilization, up to the present times, greatest of nations have been built by serious minded leaders who can listen and connect with the future. Although I have a detailed Workplan, I will continue to listen to the voice of our youths as we head towards the Party Primaries on September 2, 2019 and hopefully towards victory at the main election.

Certainly, Bayelsa will never be the same again. We will definitely take a quantum leap into the future !
