ADVERT RATE

The setting ablaze and destruction of Azagbene community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on July 22, 2019, by the Nigerian Army is a crime against humanity, which is unacceptable in it’s entirety, as it is neither reasonable nor justifiable in a sane country where equity and respect for humanity reign supreme.

We therefore, join hands of solidarity with many civil and patriotic Organizations and individuals in Ijawnation, Niger Delta and Nigeria as whole to condemn the evil act.

We also join our voice with well-meaning sons and daughters of Ijawnation in calls to rebuild the community and bring to book the perpetrators without delay.

DESTRUCTION OF AZAGBENE COMMUNITY BY NIGERIAN ARMY UNFORGIVABLE--FIYE.

However, we hereby state without mincing words that the two soldiers killed by the pirates as claimed by the Nigerian army are not free from engaging into dirty business in collaboration with the pirates on illegal oil bunkering activities.

In other clear terms, both the soldiers killed by the pirates and the entire team of soldiers in the area that participated in the dastardly act of burning down a whole community are a bunch of criminals and oil thieves in uniform, who are indifferent from the so called pirates.

How can some armed youths called pirates just go and kill two soldiers without any connection of unprofessional and illegal dealings between them? They, (the soldiers and the so called pirates), are all criminals.

We challenge the Nigerian army to prove us wrong, that the troops of army in Ijaw land are oil thieves, by conducting thorough and proper investigation.

Now the big questions are; why can’t the soldiers go after these pirates that killed their men and face them squarely? Because the Army know their whereabouts. Why diverting and channelling their anger towards a peaceful and defenseless community? Or are the Nigerian soldiers now afraid of the pirates?

We have severally said that there is nowhere in the world an Army or soldiers of a country finds joy or pride themselves in setting ablaze component communities of their country, that are inhabited by children, women and aged ones, because such soldiers would be brought to book for rendering homeless and killing the citizens they sworn to protect.

So, soldiers in other parts of the world are proud of, and derive joy in protecting the defenseless citizens and the territorial integrity of their country.

Nevertheless, this is always the narrative when it comes to matters concerning Ijawnation, because the Nigerian Army is so corrupt that officers and personnel in the force are either too weak to protect the defenseless citizens or not motivated in fighting terrorism and bandits, but are hyper-interested in stealing Crude oil from Ijawnation and Niger Delta in general.

Having said that, the Nigerian Army should know that there is no dignity and honour in destroying a defenseless community inhabited by children, women and old ones, who goes about their legitimate businesses for daily bread, while your supposed targets are roaming freely along the coast.

This is far from either vengeance or retaliation, but a demonstration of weakness and cowardice, as it’s an unreasonable and unforgivable crime against humanity.

Signed;

Comrade Samson Ajagbini
President, (FIYE).
