Fifty Indigent Bayelsa Youths have emerged beneficiaries of the Environmental Beautification Training scheme initiated by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) for the unemployed. 

The Beautification training scheme, which is under the Special Public Works of the NDE,  is part of the Federal Government effort to gainfully engage, drop out and school certificate holder in soft and hard landscaping skills such as inter lock making, POP designs, block making and other skills, will last for three months.

 The Director General of the NDE, represented by Mr. Keneth Okafor, while declaring open the Orientation programme for the Environmental Beautification Training scheme in Yenagoa on Friday, said the beautification training scheme will afford beneficiaries to be self employed and become employer of labour. 

Okafor, said though information gathered from the implementation of past schenes initiated by the NDE showed that indigent Bayelsans focussed more on the stipends provided rather than the skills provided, “we hope it will change and I call on beneficiaries to focus more on getting trained rather than the stipend. ”

Also speaking the State Coordinator of the NDE in Bayelsa State represented by Mr. Aham Okachukwu, commended the benefiting youths for the zeal to get trained, stating that the programme will last for three months.

Okechukwu noted that the training is important because of the rising cases of unemployment,”everybody is looking for white collar jobs and they are notvailable. If you acquire these skills, it will last you for a lifetime.”

The Head of Department (HOD),  Special Public Works of the NDE in Bayelsa, Mr. Awudu Pelesai commended the youths for their orderly and show of interest in the scheme, insisting that the interest shown have changed the stereotype on the loss interest of indigenes in gettino trained.
