Tompolo’s kinsmen backs FG, Delta State over anti-COVID-19 measures

Kinsmen of the foremost former militant leader in the Niger Delta region, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo has thrown their weight behind the Federal and Delta State Government over the proactive measures undertaking to counter the pandemic in the Country, saying such strategy has reduced the cases of infection and increase the recovery of those affected.

The Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, H.R.M Oboro Gbaraun II, in council, who made this known while announcing the beginning and completion of the cleansing rites of all the communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom from the Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19 and other deadly diseases currently ravaging the entirety of the world, said the people of the region are happy with the measures taken by the Federal and State governments in attempt to curb this global pandemic currently ravaging the world

According to the statement signed by the Fiyewei ( Spokesman) of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, T.D.A (JP), the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom, “I am happy with the measures taken by the Federal and State governments in attempt to curb this global pandemic currently ravaging the world’.

He noted that some of these things happening in the physical realm have Spiritual undertones, hence the traditional institution of Gbaramatu Kingdom, sees the need for supporting the Federal and State Governments in seeking spiritual solutions to the problems, this we are doing to assist the government at all levels.He also said,’this is our own small way in telling government we are behind them their joint efforts to curb the deadly Pandemic’

Meanwhile, the Tompolo Foundation, a brain child of former G.O.C of MEND and Niger Delta agitator, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, on Monday donated food items worth several millions of Naira to Gbaramatu Communities of Warri South West Area of Delta State to cushion the effects of the 14 days locked down over the Coronavirus pandemic.

Tompolo Foundation led by Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Executive Secretary, Tompolo Foundation made the donation to the Communities represented by their Chairmen in Warri.

According to Bebenimibo, “These are trying times and everyone is suffering from the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic one way or the other. The foundation has come to identify with the pains of our people,“Our founder is a passionate lover of his people, despite the challenges, we decided to show our concern and love. We know that these food items cannot meet the needs of all but it is a succour in such times”.

“We urge the Chairmen to distribute the items to their people to alleviate their pains. We urged them to abide religiously to the declaration of our dear Governor. We thank the government for taking proactive steps to stem the spread of the virus. Everyone should maintain a healthy living style to ensure they are safe.”

Responding on behalf of the Communities, Demebi Johnbull, Chairman, Oporoza Community said, “We are indeed grateful to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo and his Foundation for coming to support us.

“We are elated that despite the challenges and harsh economy, Tompolo Foundation still considers our welfare very seriously, we are indeed happy and we pray that God will reward him and protect every members of the Foundation.The food items will help us as palliatives, we shall made judicious use of it, we urged other meaningful individuals and government agencies to come to our aids in these moment of lockdown”.
