The member representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District and the Chairman, South-South Caucus of the Nigerian Youth Parliament Hon. Ouseibai Seperegha Godsgift M. has expressed his displeasure over the incessant  distractions that are melted on the Acting Managing Director Prof. Nelson Braimbraifa and other members of the management team in the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The Youth Parliamentarian stressed that there is need for everyone who has the development of the Niger Delta Region at heart to support the interventionist commission and its leadership at any given point in time so as to enable the NDDC to fulfill its mandate of bridging the development gap of the region. But it is obvious, the syndrome of “pull him or her down” and the politics of “if not me it must not be anyone else” are greatly at play which is not good as it affects the activities of the commission and the consequences are on the ordinary citizens of the region.

The Honourable Parliamentarian urged all stakeholders of the Niger Delta to give the leadership of the commission the needed support while appealing to those groups and individuals who are behind the avoidable distractions of the commission to desist from such actions as they are inimical to the development of the Niger Delta.

He however charged the Acting Managing Director Prof. Nelson Braimbraifa and his team to carry out meaningful infrastructural and human capital development programmes and projects that will have direct impact on the people of the region particularly the ordinary people with diligence and professionalism.

In his words the honourable parliamentarian said “it is very unfortunate that a lot of issues i call distractions are bedeviling the commission and its leadership and I feel so bad about it. I do not think we need such distractions at this point in time as a people of this region considering the developmental challenges facing us as a people. If the vision of the NDDC is to intervene in the development gap of the region, every stakeholders should support the leadership of the commission for them to achieve the mandate. I therefore urge all to support the Managing Director and the management team. I appeal that those groups and individuals behind these avoidable distractions should withdraw from their actions as it is doing us no good.
