Sanusi accepted to serve as Kaduna varsity chancellor – Gov. El-Rufai

• Governor El-Rufai said the former emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has accepted the two appointments offered him
• The deposed emir was appointed by Kaduna government to serve as the chancellor of KASU and as vice-chairman of the board of KADIPA
• El-Rufai expressed gratitude to the former emir for continuing to support and assist the realisation of the governance objectives of the Kaduna government

Governor Nasir El-Rufai says the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has accepted the appointments offered him by the Kaduna state government, The Cable reports.

NAIJA LIVE TV reports that Sanusi’s acceptance of the appointments was contained in a statement signed by Muyiwa Adekeye who is the media aide to Governor El-Rufai on Wednesday, March 11.

Governor El-Rufai expressed gratitude to the former emir for continuing to support and assist the realisation of the governance objectives of the Kaduna government.

NAIJA LIVE TV earlier reported that the Kaduna state government on Wednesday honoured the former traditional ruler with another appointment.

The dethroned monarch was announced as the chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU) by the state government.

Sanusi is taking over from Tagwai Sambo, the Chief of Moro’a, the pioneer chancellor, who was appointed back in 2005.

Earlier, NAIJA LIVE TV previously reported that the Kaduna state government on Tuesday, March 10, honoured the former monarch with a new appointment.

Sanusi was appointed into the board of the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA).

Concerning the new development, a statement from the Kaduna state government house partly read: “Malam Nasir El-Rufai has appointed His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II into the board of KADIPA.”

Social media reactions to the appointments offered by the former emir have been varied. While some commended Governor El-Rufai for the appointments, others claimed it was an attempt to score political points.

Shamsudeen Muhammad Giwa said: “May Allah reward you with the best of His reward for doing Mallam.

“May Allah help him in transforming the University to the world best ranked university .
