A group, the Patriotic Niger dealtans for good governance has faulted the position of the Rivers State Governor, Gov. Nyosome Wike over the recent order by the Rivers State Government to seal off of the of the office complex of the commission on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, over alleged tax evasion.

They described the action of the Rivers State Governor, Nyosome Wike as a retaliative “political mischief” and “vendetta” over the outcome that led to the delay in his emergence as Governor for second term.

According to the Bayelsa based group, the action of the Rivers State Government is a shameful act of political vendetta against perceived opposition party members at the settlement of the people of the Nine States of the Niger Delta Region.

Thr group, the Patriotic Niger dealtans for good governance, led by its President,Adonba Amgbare.,the Rivers State Government in obtaining an ex parte order for the sealing up of the office complex of the commission on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, allegedly on tax evasion, is another attempt to throw the people of the region against the state.

According to the Statement, “On one hand, the Rivers State Governor extended olive branch to members of the opposition in Rivers State after the tensed political atmosphere that greeted his second term, on another hand he is instigating crisis against the NDDC over fictitious tax evasion charges. Governor Woke is not sincere in his approach to issues of development. “

The group call on the Rivers State Governor to rescind his decision and re-open the NDDC office to ensure the needed accelerated development planned by the current leadership of the Acting Managing Director, Professor Nelson Branbaifa can take off in grand style.

On the three months administration of the NDDC led administration of Professor Nelson Branbaifa, Comrade Adomba Angbare argues that the performance of the present management in the area of detailed consultation with stakeholders and focussed leadership style has given an indication that” if Professor Branbaifa appointment becomes substantive, the needed proactive development needed in the region would be achieved. “

It would be recalled that the Rivers State Government had last Friday obtained an ex parte order from the state High Court ordering the sealing up of the premises of the NDDC for failing to pay the River State Internal Revenue Service the sum of N50 billion.

But in a statement issued today by the Director of Corporate Affairs of the commission, Mr. Charles Odili, the NDDC denied ever owing the River State Internal revenue the said amount, insisting that it had paid all necessary taxes such as Withholding Tax and Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax to the state government.
