Police Nab Husband And Wife For Kidnapping In Lagos

A man and his wife have been arrested by operatives of the Inspector -General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), for being responsible for the kidnap of little children in Lagos State.
The man, John, and his wife are being interrogated at the IRT office located in Ikeja for some kidnapping and armed robbery cases.

Police said that the suspects mode of operations was that the man registered a company’s name and advertised with OLX for hiring house help.
He would then give out his wife as house help to those requesting for one through the online.
Not knowing that they are about being attacked, the couple would then set in motion how best to achieve their aim.
A police officer said,” he would hire his wife to unsuspecting members of the public who requested for his service. His wife would give fictitious names, address and data.
“After some day, the woman who would have understudied the household and the environment would steal the little children in the house, money and other valuables .They were responsible for the stealing of the celebrated Olukoya twins in 2014.
“Since 2014, we have been looking for them. They were tracked after they stole two kids. We are investigating to know how many children they have stolen, where and who they sold the children to.
“We are calling on the members of the public who employed a woman that elope with their children to come to IRT office, Police command headquarters in Ikeja for proper identification. You may be lucky to be reunited with your stolen child.”
John told our correspondent that ;” Yes, I was responsible for the kidnap of the celebrated Olukoya’s children. They were returned to their patents. We sold them, but when the pressure was too much from all quarters, especially from the press and the police, we have to return the children. Well, I have repented from crime for a long time now. It was the devil that pushed me again. What the police told you is the truth.They told you everything. Yes, I recruited my wife for the job because, she is the only person that I can trust .She is a qualified Nurse, so she would be able to take care of little children. Well, it was not our intentions, but it was hardship and the devil that sold the idea to us. We wanted to do genuine business, but along the line, I sold the idea to her.
“We registered with OLX and people seemed to believe me when I give them my price. My wife would understudy the people she would be working with and struck. I regretted committing the acts, but I want to disagree that my wife used to steal money and trinkets. Not really, she wouldn’t have the time to do all those things as our major concern was children.
“We were selling to those who needed children and not to ritualists as being speculated. Except the persons we sold to resell to other people”.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos state, Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspect said: “The suspects, husband and wife, have been on the wanted list of the police from series of crimes ,especially the abduction of little children. The suspects would advertised online calling for those looking for house helps to contact him. Once unsuspecting person applied ,the man would give the person his wife and the rest is history.
“That is why we are warning people to do proper profiling before employing domestic staff like Nanny, driver ,cook and gardeners. Bring them to the nearest police station for proper documentation and profiling. It does not cost money .We know what to do to save you the chances of loosing your children amd property to strangers you may never trail. The suspects would be charged to court soon”.
