Innocent Ike’s appointment as the Acting Managing Director/ CEO of Polaris Bank was announced by the Bank’s board and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the Bank’s shareholder, which will take effect from September 01, 2020.
The incumbent Managing Director/CEO of the bank, Mr Tokunbo Abiru, whose retirement takes effect from 31st August, 2020, has successfully completed his two terms of two years each, first as Group Managing Director/CEO, Skye Bank Plc now defunct and later Managing Director/CEO Polaris Bank Limited.
According to a statement by Babatunde Osibodu, the Bank’s company secretary, “The incoming acting managing director/CEO was until now the executive director, technology & services while also overseeing the south-south/south-east directorate of the bank.”
Ike has being a major driver of the Company Corporate transformational journey since he joined the defunct Skye Bank as the executive director, technology & services after the Central Bank of Nigeria’s intervention in the bank.
He has over 30 years of professional experience in the Banking Industry. He is a graduate of Accounting from the University of Lagos, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Certified IFRS Expert and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
He holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy & Innovation from MIT Sloan School of Management; Boston and he is also a Member of Institute of Directors (IOD).
Ike was an executive director in Keystone Bank Limited, prior to his appointment on the board of defunct Skye Bank.
He was reappointed as Executive Director Technology and services in Polaris Bank Limited in September 2018, upon the acquisition of the assets and some liabilities of the defunct Skye Bank Plc by Polaris
