There is a very strong indication that the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, may have disqualified all the Senatorial District Aspirants that appeared before the Screening committee yesterday.

According a source that spoke to the Nigerian Post, the disqualification is to pave way for it planned automatic ticket to some serving National Assembly Members.

It would be recalled that the PDP yesterday screened its National Assembly Aspirants at the State Party Secretariat in Lokoja

All the aspirants for the Senate and House of Representatives Aspirants from the State, aside Sen. Dino Melaye, Sen. Ahmed Ogembe and Sen. Attai Aidoko where however absent with a source disclosing to the Nigerian Post that they have been screened in Abuja.

Feelers emanating from an undisclosed source at the National Secretariat Abuja who spoke with the Nigerian Post but preferred to remain anonymous, said some of the serving national assembly members, working in connivance with the screening committee hatched the plans to disqualify the aspirants on flimsy excuses.

The source particularly fingered one of the serving Senator, bent on seeking a second term, but having recently defected to the party, as the brain and mastermind behind the plot.

The battle for who picks the PDP senatorial ticket in Kogi State, on automatic basis has been a fierce one, with the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus having to meet and appeal with the PDP stakeholders of the Western Senatorial District in the penultimate week.

The news of the disqualification some of the aspirants has however generated disaffection amongst the ranks of the PDP as Musa Usman a stalwart of the party from the Eastern senatorial district says such action would signal the end of the party in the district.

Also speaking, Muyiwa Nihi Majekodunmi a member of the party from Kogi West says the party would have signed its death warrant if it goes ahead to disqualify any aspirant from the area.

Muyiwa who hails from Mopa Amuro LGA says what is left of the PDP in the Western Senatorial District is a free and fair primaries, warned against an automatic ticket that would lead to disaffection, and consequent failure for the party.

All efforts to reach the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and that of the State to confirm the disqualification proved abortive as they could not be reached.

But Mohammed Kabir, the Assistant Publicity secretary of the party in the state described the disqualification as a rumor that should be disregarded.
