Ondo State lawmakers have vowed not to approve the N30bn loan brought to it for approval by the state Governor, Mr Rotimi  Akeredolu, if the state House of Assembly complex is not renovated.

Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly had asked the governor to repair the dilapidated complex for legislative business to resume.

The House said last week that as a result of the poor condition of the Assembly complex, a snake appeared at the hallow chamber when the plenary session was about to commence.

On Thursday again, the House, through the Chairman House Committee on Information, Mr Gbenga Omole, said the weak ceiling of the hallow chamber caved in. He said as a result of the development the House adjourned its sitting indefinitely.

Speaking with journalists on the telephone, Omole, said, “They want to borrow money now. I am a member of the Appropriation Committee. They want to borrow N30bn. If they did not do what we want, we will not allow that to happen.

“Out of the money, they said they want to rehabilitate Accountant-General’s office, you want to repair the Accountant-General’s office, you don’t want to repair the independent arm of government. It is not going to happen. The worst is that they will not give us second term but we will do what the people of Ondo State like.”
