Nigeria Veteran broadcaster, Cyril Stober has reportedly retired from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

There is no Nigerian born between the 80s and 90s who doesn’t recognize him or remember these words “Good evening i’m Cyril Stober and this is NTA news.”

He’s one of the foremost revered veterans in Nigeria media industry amongst the likes of late Frank Olize, Hon. Abike Dabiri on NTA Newslines, Ruth Benemesia Opia, John Momoh Ayinde Soaga and the late Tokunbo Ajayi.

Cyril Stober is a Sierra Leonean but he was born in Minna, Niger State Nigeria. He likes wearing Hausa Fulani Babaringa and Caftan dress because of the culture of where he grew up. He attended Government Secondary School (GSS) Minna and received an A1 in English.

He started his career in broadcasting with NTA Minna. He worked with the Nigerian Television Authority for about three decades where he anchored the NTA news at 9pm. Unlike some news broadcasters in Nigeria, he was known to be himself. He never had a fake accent or went to school to learn how to speak with like a British/American.

On the 13th of January, 2018 he got married to his former colleague Elizabeth Banu, a newscaster by occupation. They celebrated their wedding in traditional style. The ceremony took place in Banu’s homeland Garkida. As was expected a lot of co-workers were present at the wedding of Cyril Stober and Elizabeth Banu.
