ADVERT RATE

The Niger Delta Concerned Stakeholders for Development (NDCSD), has warned mischief makers to have a rethink, especially those calling for the dissolution of the recently appointed Management team of the NDDC and removal of the MD, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

NDCSD gave the warning in response to a recent publication made by the Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa (CGGEJA), who said preferential treatment was given in the recent dissolution of boards by the federal government, specifically citing the NDDC.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of NDCSD, Dr. Oghenebrume Philip, and the Secretary General of NDCSD, Mr. Simon Ukpabio Uduak, the Niger Delta group said the decision to retain the current management team, including the Managing Director (MD), is based on careful considerations and called on well-meaning individuals and groups to support the MD of the NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, in his bid to ensure development in the Niger Delta.

“In response to the recent unguided publication made by the Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa calling for the dissolution of the Management team of the NDDC ably led by our indefatigable MD, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, we believe it is essential to present a counter perspective and educate the misled and unfaced group.

It is important to consider the broader context and ensure fairness in evaluating the actions taken.

“The decision to retain the current management team, including the Managing Director (MD), is based on careful considerations. It is vital to understand that transitioning leadership within the NDDC at this juncture could disrupt ongoing projects and hinder progress.

“The President, known for his political will, has chosen to maintain continuity and stability in the interest of the Niger Delta region and its people.

“Furthermore, it is important to avoid hasty generalizations. Each agency and parastatal within the government operates under unique circumstances and challenges.

“Addressing the Allegations:

  1. Alleged Preferential Treatment:

The Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa asserts that preferential treatment was given in the dissolution of boards, specifically citing the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs’ directive to the MD/CEO of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“However, it is crucial to note that each government agency faces unique circumstances and challenges.

It is plausible that the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs made a considered decision based on specific circumstances pertaining to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“The Ministry’s decision could be attributed to specific operational considerations and the urgency to ensure uninterrupted service delivery in the Niger Delta region after a long period of idleness.

“2. Call for Dismissal and Probe:

The NGO’s call for the dismissal of the Managing Director of NDDC, Mr. Samuel Ogbuku, and an investigation into the letter from the Ministry of Niger Delta raises clearly indicates that the unfaced group are either adamant or very far behind in the spate of reality. We want to educate the group that the white paper on forensic audit has been received by former President Muhammedu Buhari and the audit is adjudged to be closed.

“The constitution of the administration of the NDDC under the current leadership of our workaholic MD, Dr Samuel Ogbuku is nowhere connected to the forensic audit and so the NDDC which is saddled with the responsibility of the developing the Niger Delta cannot be hibernated while our people are in dire need of development.

“While we debase the insensitivity of the Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa for their unintelligent concern regarding the dissolution of boards and the actions taken by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, it is essential to use this opportunity to emphasize the need for mischief makers under any guise to think of the best interest of the Niger Delta people rather than fuelling confusion culpable of plunging the NDDC into another session or dormancy and idleness.

“We are calling on well-meaning individuals and groups to render their undiluted support to the MD of the NDDC Dr Samuel Ogbuku for the swift development of the Niger Delta,” the Niger Delta Concerned Stakeholders for Development (NDCSD) said.
