President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the security formations in the Niger Delta region to partner with the leadership of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) against pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and other criminal activities in the oil and gas sector.

This was made known in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during a visit to the headquarters of the Operation Delta Safe (ODS) and the Bayelsa Police Command by the newly appointed Hon. Bello Bina led IPMAN executives and the representatives of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Chief of Defence Staff(CDS)

In the line with the new directive, the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command CP Mike Okoli and the Commander of the Joint Military Task Force code named Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinriande played host to the leadership of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Bayelsa State Chapter.

They both assured IPMAN of their full support noting that all hands would be on deck to further strengthen the battle against pipeline vandalism, oik theft and other crimes in the oil and gas sector in the region.

At the police headquarters, the IPMAN delegation was led by the Special adviser to the National President, Alh. Ibrahim Haliru, who introduced the State Taskforce Chairman Hon. Bello Bina and other state executives.

In his remarks, the Special adviser pointed out that Hon. Bello Bina is expected to use his wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry to checkmate pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and other criminal activities in the oil and gas sector.

Responding, CP Mike Okoli thanked Alh. Ibrahim Haliru and his team for appointing Hon. Bello Bina as the Chairman/Coordinator IPMAN Bayelsa State Chapter and charged Hon.Bello Bina to use his position as the head of the steering committee on surveillance/intelligence sharing and monitoring taskforce to curtail illegal activities in the oil and gas sector in Bayelsa State.

The CP also assured Hon.Bello Bina of the command’s readiness to partner with IPMAN in Bayelsa State to reduce oil theft and other criminal activities in the oil and gas sector.
